When a woman is battered it comes in many forms, such as, verbal abuse, economic and financial abuse,
physical beatings, mental beatings, and the list goes on...
There are no clear cut answers for this battering, but
it is known that in order to escape the abuse, there has to be a way financially to move on, start over, get out of
it. Many women stay because they lack the resources to do anything else. Our Association helps with referrals for
relocation, counseling, and education for battered women and children. Dress for Success gives each woman clothing to
enter back into the work force. Many battered women have children who witness the abuse and become abused themselves, just
for being there. We offer the adopt a school child program to help financially pay for clothing and school supplies
for children of Domestic Violence.
Love is the greatest gift of all, but It is difficult to give something you never
had. Children live what they Learn. You can't be a good Father if you never had one. You can't give love if you never recieved
it! Abusers seek out their prey. They feel a need to be in CONTROL. All of these STATEMENTS are true!
By the time
a woman realizes that she is battered, her self-esteem is usually gone or she is at the ropes end. She needs others
who understand and can help her see herself as the woman she really is.
